Community Health Teachings

Hello, dear friends! We hope this month has been wonderful for you and yours! If there is one word that sticks out to me in this month of April, it would be “EDUCATION”. After delivering almost 4,300 babies, we have witnessed firsthand just how important it is to educate moms and moms-to-be about caring for themselves and their babies.

Did you know that a contributing factor to pregnant mothers dying is lack of health education? Something seemingly simple yet so impactful for many lives!

For fifteen years, we have been working hard to provide quality healthcare to marginalized moms and babies of Cebu AND be sure to equip and enable mothers for the journey of motherhood ahead. Sharing with mothers everything from nutrition, basic hygeine, danger signs to watch out for, caring for a newborn, parenting and everything in between!

It gives us such joy to see mothers gaining the knowledge and skills that are life saving to them and to their children not just physically but spiritually. Aside from health teachings Glory Reborn shares the Gospel message with our enrolled mothers both in the clinic and in their homes during our outreach program.

“Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” – Hebrews 13:20-21 NKJV

At the very heart of Glory Reborn is the vision to build community. One of the ways we are able to reach the communities around us is by actively sharing the life-saving knowledge of health education and parenting with our neighbors and local partner Organizations. This month we offered health teaching classes in four different communities in Cebu. These partner Organizations invited Glory Reborn to share our health education classes with their various program participants. We were blessed to dispatched multiple teams of our staff for HIV awareness lectures, Reproductive Health and Parenting Classes. All teams had great turnouts and the families in the community had such positive responses!

In addition to pregnancy classes for mothers enrolled at Glory Reborn we have also begun offering classes to working mothers and their partners in our city. Our love for investing in mothers, equipping them for the journey of motherhood ahead, and building relationships in our community continues to inspire and bless us and the growing families around us.

We have found such love for continuing to invest in Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies and Hopeful Hearts in our clinic setting as well as in the various communities around us.

The audience of the Reproductive Health & Parenting lecture was a mix of teens, older parents and even grandparents! No matter the age, they were all eager to learn and interact.

The pregnancy and labor classes are even more fun when the partners are involved. They’ve been such good sports!

We’ve also been given the opportunity to reach out to the pregnant women at the city jail. Our team talked about proper nutrition and danger signs to look out for during pregnancy. Apart from that, we wanted them to know that they are cared for and that they have our support especially in their difficult circumstance!

Speaking of education, we have great news from one of our moms who gave birth at the clinic in 2016! Jessa just graduated from her job readiness training a few days ago, and we were privileged to be at her graduation ceremony, celebrating with her. We look forward to seeing God’s plan for Jessa’s life unfold in the coming days!
